About
AlbertaTaxSales is an independent, one-person project that maps every Alberta municipal tax-sale property and town-owned lot in one place. It is free to browse, and it is not affiliated with any municipality or with the Government of Alberta.
Alberta municipalities must advertise tax-recovery auctions in the Alberta Gazette, 40 to 90 days before the sale. That makes the information public, but it is scattered across a government gazette and the websites of 330 separate municipalities, which is why most people never find out a parcel near them was sold until after it happened.
There is a second reason. Alberta works differently from almost every other province, and the directories people find first get it wrong. One tells readers Alberta has a one-year redemption period. It does not. Title transfers when the auctioneer says sold. Getting that single fact wrong can cost someone a property, so this site states it on every listing.
Listings are re-checked daily. Every parcel page carries the date it was last updated.
This is a research tool, not advice, and not a substitute for the municipality's own notice. Specifically:
Questions, corrections, or a listing that looks wrong, please write to [email protected]. Corrections are genuinely welcome: if a parcel here is wrong, it is a problem worth fixing quickly.
